Numerous authorities in Germany, such as the judiciary or notaries require sworn translations of official documents. A sworn translation may only be produced by an expert translator who has been sworn in, in a court of law. The translation is stamped, signed and endorsed with a personal declaration from the certified or sworn translator.
Certifications are primarily required for documents such as court rulings, transcripts, certificates, contracts, identification documents, etc.
What is the procedure for translating and certifying a document?
You send either the original document or a certified copy to us by post for translation. No notary or lawyer is necessary because the certification is provided by the sworn translator himself when he endorses the translated document with a certification stamp and his signature.
Once this is done, we send you the certified document. Naturally, we can send you a copy in advance by fax, e-mail or as a scan, but the authorities require that the original document be presented.
(If you send us the document by fax or scanned, we require an assurance from you - by post, fax or e-mail - that you are in possession of the original document. Only then can the document translation be duly carried out and certified.)
