One important comment:
Since the professional designation "translator" is not legally protected, anybody can call himself a translator and anybody who thinks they have an adequate knowledge of a language can operate as a translator - even where, objectively speaking, this is not the case. In such instances, the “translator” is unable to fully understand a specialised text and is therefore not in a position to accurately reproduce it in the target language.

Translation is a professional job and, generally speaking, language lovers, amateur translators, foreign language teachers or bilingual secretaries should not be entrusted with such work.

Against this backdrop it becomes self-evident that a certain price level is not only acceptable but is in fact necessary. A truly good and fluent translation cannot be done cheaply. Sadly, this is often only understood “after the horse has bolted”. The end result can be loss of earnings, loss of market share, damage to one’s reputation and even legal action.
